In a recent interview at Echoroom, Jayfred revealed that he draws inspiration from big producers like “Young Jonn and Pheelz,” because like them, he’s also a producer and artist.
The singer and producer, Fredrick Ajayi, aka Jayfred, also talked about his current hit song “Ghetto Boy” featuring Bhadboi Oml. In his words, “Ghetto Boy is a song from my latest EP, ‘Give Me No Stress 2.0.’ It was a collective idea between me and my manager. I came up with the beat and my manager was like you can try and do something that has to do with your background, inspire your audience about where you are coming from. And that’s how we came up with the song, and Bhadboi Oml blessed me with a verse, and we made a hit.”

Later in the interview, he shared his top five artists, with Burna Boy being his number one, followed by Davido, Young Jonn, Pheelz, and Teni.
Jayfred also gave a shoutout to Masterkraft, whom he considers his biggest mentor. He mentioned meeting Masterkraft before and how much he looks up to him.
When asked about the biggest risk he has taken for his career, he said, “The biggest risk I took was abandoning my education to focus on my craft. I had to choose between finishing school and pursuing music full-time. I’m glad it paid off, but I plan to return to school soon.”
He also talked about the challenges he faced in the music industry, mainly the lack of support. “The music industry is wide, and you can’t do it all by yourself,” he said.
Jayfred gave a big shoutout to Obafunshy Record, his management, for making his journey easier and shorter.
He also mentioned struggling with self-doubt due to others’ opinions while growing up. If he could advise his younger self, he would say, “Follow your heart and don’t worry about what others think.”
At the end of the interview, Jayfred expressed his desire to be remembered as a great musician and producer who had a significant impact and shared his knowledge. He appreciated his fans’ support and urged them to keep believing in him and his craft.
